Charlotte Self, a resident of Hendersonville, NC, was born in Germany and grew up in Hitler's Third Reich.  Her mother, a physician in private practice and a dedicated Social Democrat, was one of the most active members of the Resistance in the area.                                      After November 9, 1938, "Crystal Night", the Horror-Pogrom against the Jews, Charlotte became her mother's partner and confidant.  She was 12 years old.                       Outwardly, she led the life of a "normal" teenager.  In the shadows, she became a courier for the Underground and helped her mother take care of patients and refugees in hiding.       Her talk will be about this double life.
