Rabbi Phil Cohen joins Agudas Israel Synagogue
Hendersonville's Agudas Israel Synagogue, 54 Morris Kaplan Drive, has a new spiritual leader.
Rabbi Phil Cohen received rabbinic ordination from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in New York.
After rabbinical school, he attended Brandeis University in Massachusetts, where he received a Ph.D. in Near Eastern/Judaic studies with a specialty in Jewish thought. Read more >>>

Rabbi's Next Chapter Rabbi Philip Bentley and his wife, Phyllis, first came to Hendersonville more than 20 years ago to visit friends in the area and get a look at the mountains that gave birth to the folk music he so enjoyed.
By the time his vacation ended, Bentley had made a critical decision.
“We just fell in love with the area,” he says. “I said at the time, ‘This is where I want to end up.’ I planned on retiring here.” Bentley, 65, will soon fulfill that initial wish when he retires at the end of June as rabbi of the Agudas Israel Congregation. Read more >>>
